Wembley Stadium Tour

Welcome to the home of English football. Wembley Stadium, with its unmistakeable arch reaching 436 feet in the air, stands proudly on the site where so much history has been made and you can enjoy it all on a tour that takes you to the heart of it all.

With a capacity of 90,000 seats, Wembley Stadium is the largest sports and music venue in the UK and the second largest football stadium in Europe. It was opened in 2007 on the same site as the original Empire Stadium which saw momentous events such as the 1948 Olympic Games and the 1966 World Cup Final.

The Wembley Stadium Tour takes you to places you normally only see on television: sit in Roy Hodgson’s hot seat in the press conference room, visit the home dressing room where England prepare for the upcoming game, feel the tension standing in the players tunnel before emerging on to the pitch, and feel the thrill of victory as you climb the steps to the Royal Box to accept the FA Cup.

Other highlights include visiting the VIP Club Wembley middle tier to get panoramic views of the stadium, The History Tour in which you can see, among the many exhibits, the original Olympic flag and torch from the 1948 games, and the infamous crossbar from the 1966 World Cup final, along with the Jules Rimet Trophy lifted by Bobby Moore.

This year the FA celebrates its 150th year. As part of the tour you get to see memorabilia collected over those years with the special FA150 exhibition; so many memories. As part of the exhibition you will see the original FA Cup, the FA Charity Shield and the original minute book from the inaugural meeting way back in 1872. A true piece of football history that is not to be missed.

The London Eye

The EDF Energy London Eye has become one of the most unmistakable sights on the famous London skyline since it was erected in 1999. It is also the most popular paid attraction, not only in London, but the entire UK with over 3.5 million visitors every year.

The London Eye is a huge Ferris wheel that stands on the South Bank of the Thames. It was when officially opened on 31st December 1999, the tallest of its kind in the world, standing at 443ft tall and with a diameter of 394ft. Now, only recently surpassed by two wheels in the Far East, it is still the largest in Europe and second only to The Shard for the highest viewing platform in London. As it is supported by an A-frame on one side only, unlike its rivals the Singapore Flyer and Star of Nanchang, it is the tallest cantilevered observation wheel in the world.

Each of the 32 seated and air conditioned ovular capsules, one representing each of the London Boroughs, weighs 10 tonnes and can comfortably carry 25 passengers. Amazingly, the wheel doesn’t actually stop to take on passengers unless they are elderly or disabled because it turns at a rate of only 10 inches per second. Passengers just step on and off. Then they are treated to a 30 minute ride where they can take in a view of up to 40 kilometres across London and beyond.

There are interactive touchscreen guides inside the capsules and also a London Eye 4D experience before joining the ride. This cinematic marvel, which features a 3D film with extra effects such as wind, bubbles and mist, will have the whole family enthralled.

Tickets for The London Eye, and all the other major London attractions, are available to buy securely from BmyConcierge.com

Madame Tussauds

Madame Tussauds has proven to be one of the most popular London attractions since Marie Tussaud first came to live in Baker Street in 1835. Since then the famous waxworks museum moved to its present home in Marylebone Road and has been delighting visitors since it opened its doors to the first exhibition on 14th July 1884.

Spend a very special day meeting people that you have only ever seen on television or read about in newspapers and magazines, mingle with the famous and the infamous: movie stars, musicians, sporting greats, world leaders and the royals.

Yet Madame Tussauds is not just an array of famous figures both past and present; it has evolved to become much more than that. Along with the display of your favourite mighty Marvel superheroes, there is a breath-taking 4D film experience in which they have to save London from an evil super villain. You feel part of the action as it takes place all around you, while you actually feel everything from wind and water to earthquakes. An unforgettable treat for all the family.

Always renowned for its Chamber of Horrors, Madame Tussauds has gone one step further and introduced a new area called Scream. Here the inmates have taken over a maximum security prison and you find yourself right in the middle of it all this madness looking for a way out. A truly terrifying experience that is not recommended for the feint hearted.

Take to a London cab and go on a journey through London’s past in The Spirit of London and see the historical and cultural events that made the capital into one of the world’s great cities.

To buy priority entrance tickets to Madame Tussauds, or any of the other attractions in London, the best place to visit for all the latest discounts is BmyConcierge.com

The Tower of London

For over 900 years The Tower of London has been one of the most familiar and iconic attractions in London. Originally a wooden palisade built in 1066 by William the Conqueror, the familiar stone central keep, The White Tower, was built somewhere around 1078 and came to symbolise the oppression of the native Anglo-Saxons by the despised Norman elite.

The Tower of London, or to give it its formal title: Her Majesty's Royal Palace and Fortress, has undergone a few makeovers in its time with rings of defensive walls built. Henry III ordered it whitewashed, probably for cosmetic reasons or to protect the stone from weathering. He also extended the fortifications as he was having a slight disagreement with the Barons at the time.

Over the centuries it has had many functions, not just as a royal residence. It has been an armoury, a treasury, the Royal Mint, a public records office, a prison and even a zoo. Now it houses The Crown Jewels in one of the world’s most secure vaults.
There are probably more stories attached to the Tower of London than there are stones in its walls. If you take a guided tour by one of the Beefeaters or, as they are properly known, Yeoman Warder you will be regaled with tales of intrigue, betrayal, treachery and murder. It isn’t called The Bloody Tower for nothing!

Buying tickets to visit The Tower of London or any other London attraction could not be simpler, just visit BmyConcierge.com

The View from The Shard

That ever-young super group The Who sang that they could see for miles and miles. Now you can too. The View from The Shard, London’s newest and most eagerly anticipated attraction offers you all round panoramic views for up to 40 miles across one of the greatest cities on earth.

At a staggering 87 storeys, reaching up 306 metres (1004 feet) into the sky, The Shard is the tallest building in Western Europe. Also known as The Shard of Glass, Shard London Bridge and formerly London Bridge Tower, this freestanding work of art was designed by the Italian architect Renzo Piano on the site that used to be occupied by the 24 storey office block Southwark Towers.

The Shard, essentially an elongated pyramid of glass, contains offices, a soon to be opened luxury hotel and a choice of three restaurants. Yet its crowning glory, quite literally, is the viewing platform which they have named simply The View. What a view it is too: sitting at the top of The Shard on floors 68, 69 and 72 it is the highest viewing platform in the UK, and almost twice as high as any other viewing platform in London.
For your chance to enjoy this once in a lifetime, never to be forgotten experience, visit BmyConcierge.com where you can securely purchase tickets for The View from The Shard and everything else London has to offer

Mamma Mia! at The Novello Theatre

When the stage production of Mamma Mia! first opened its curtains in 1999, who could have envisioned its mega success? Well, probably everybody, considering the fact that it is based around the songs of ABBA – arguably Sweden’s most popular export.

Written by Catherine Johnson with the songs composed by former band members Benny Andersson and Bjorn Ulvaeus, Mamma Mia! takes place on the Greek Island of Kalokairi where Sophie is about to be married. She wants to be walked down the aisle by her father, as tradition dictates, but she has no idea who her father is.

Sophie finds an old diary belonging to her mother. Within this diary are details of three men with whom her mother was intimate in quick succession in the time period before Sophie was born, indicating that one of them in all probability is her father. Yet which one is it? She decides to invite all three to her wedding…

Since its opening night Mamma Mia! has gone on to enjoy global success. It has grossed $2 billion worldwide and has been seen, enjoyed and sang along to by more than 54 million fans. It has been performed in more than 40 countries and translated into 14 languages. It holds the record for premiering in more cities faster than any other musical. It has also become a phenomena among cinema goers  too when it was adapted for the silver screen. The movie version starred luminaries such as Meryl Streep, Colin Firth and Pierce Brosnan and became the highest grossing musical of all time worldwide.

You can securely book your tickets to see Mamma Mia! at the Novello Theatre in London’s West End by visiting BmyConcierge.com

Matilda at The Cambridge Theatre

The Royal Shakespeare Company’s production of Matilda has been delighting audiences, both young and old, since its first opening night in 2010 in Stratford upon Avon. It has since moved to the Cambridge Theatre in London’s West End and has also opened on New York’s Broadway.

Based on the Roald Dahl story, Matilda tells of a little girl with a big imagination. Unhappy with her lot living at home with her mother, who is obsessed with ballroom dancing, and her father, a dodgy used car salesman. She also has little in common with her gormless brother. To take her away from all of this she spends her time reading, something her father disapproves of, he thinks watching television is far more worthwhile.

Life at school is no better under the strict regime of the demonic headmistress Miss Trunchbull who frightens both the children and their teacher Miss Honey. One day young Matilda Wormwood discovers she has a very special power and suddenly things begin to change…

Written by the playwright Dennis Kelly, with lyrics and music by the Australian musician and comedian Tim Minchin, Matilda has been showered with both critical acclaim and awards. It has won a place in the Guinness Book of Records by scooping an unprecedented seven gongs at the 2012 Laurence Olivier Awards.

You can book your tickets to see Matilda safely and securely on the BmyConcierge.com website right now.

Les Miserables Theatre Show

When it comes to musicals there are none that measure up to the daddy of them all. Les Miserables is now the longest running musical in the world, having been seen and adored by more than 62 million theatre goers in 42 countries around the world, since its first opening night 28 years ago.

Taking the audience back to 19th century France, Les Miserables tells the story of ex-convict Jean Valjean and his relentless pursuer Javert. Following 19 years serving his sentence on a chain gang, Valjean is given parole but is condemned to live as an outcast, shunned by society because he has to display his ‘ticket of leave’. His life is changed forever by the kindness of a Bishop who, despite Valjean stealing from him, lied to the police on his behalf to secure his freedom. His lesson learned, Valjean breaks his parole and changes both his name and his fate.

Valjean goes on to become a respected factory owner and town mayor, helping the unfortunate Fantine and her illegitimate daughter Cosette. All the time the shadow of the ruthless Javert casts long over his fortunes.

The story follows them to Paris nine years later where a student lead rebellion is brewing on the streets and, once again, the paths of Valjean and his nemesis Javert will fatefully cross.

Les Miserables has also recently been a massive success on the silver screen with the movie starring Hugh Jackman, Russell Crowe and Anne Hathaway.

The Lion King

So, hands up who hasn’t seen The Lion King on DVD? There won’t be many hands raised one would suspect, especially if the people you are asking have children.

Following its success on film, and popularity among an entire generation of young fans, it might have seemed a daunting task to bring it to life on stage. Yet that is what has been achieved: life. The animal costumes show creativity and meticulous care; the movement, colour and sound, the wildlife in the stalls and the African soundtrack mixed with the now familiar pop songs from the talented, musical mind of Sir Elton John engages the audience and leaves them stunned. The theatre is alive, it feels like the East African plain and you are there.

Words like spectacular and extravaganza are so readily and easily thrown at musicals, when are they not described as such in their advertising? Yet these are crowns that sit so easily on this head; indeed, few are more deserving of these titles than The Lion King.

The whole family will be entertained by this visual delight as have millions of others who have attended performances of The Lion King for over a decade. Tickets are available now from BmyConcierge.com
