Michelle Ryan To Star In Cabaret At The Savoy

Ex Eastender and Bionic Woman Michelle Ryan is to make her West End musical theatre debut opposite Will Young in the latest revival of Rufus Norris’ hit production of Cabaret.which will play at the Savoy Theatre in London from October 3rd for a limited run.

Ryan will play the starring role of Sally Bowles, first made famous by Liza Minnelli in the 1972 Oscar-winning movie adaptation of Kander and Ebb’s musical, which was originally based on John van Druten’s play I Am A Camera and author Christopher Isherwood’s semi-biographical story.

Cabaret is set in Berlin in 1931 in the infamous and fantastically sleazy Kit Kat Club – where Will Young will play the flamboyant Emcee.  The show centres on the relationship between the 19-year-old English cabaret star Bowles and young American writer Cliff Bradshaw, and is set against a changing and dangerous political backdrop in Germany with the Nazis rising to power.

Ryan first caught the public eye with her role as Zoe Slater in TV soap opera EastEnders. After leaving the drama the actress moved accross the pond and found success in Hollywood, winning the lead role in the remake of U.S TV series The Bionic Woman.

Since returning to the UK,  Ryan has appeared on British TV in Mansfield Park, Doctor Who, Miss Marple, and in the films Cleanskin and Huge.

After making her 2005 stage debut in the King’s Head theatre’s Who’s The Daddy, Ryan will make her west end premiere musical performance in a show featuring a host of iconic songs including Money Makes The World Go Round, Cabaret, Two Ladies, and Maybe This Time.
